No one tells you being a mom is going to be so hard....that from the moment your child is born, life shifts.

That along with the endless number of diaper changes, days of walking around in a sleepless fog, and brainless house chores also comes a shift in priority, a shift in one's personal award system.

Exhaustion and overwhelm enter as a daily reminder that your life is now largely controlled by your little one.

And as your little one grows, so does the demand for letting go. Her first steps with you by her side will one day turn into her stepping out the door and living life on her own.

And the hardest part?  There's no manual.

"How do I know she won't get left out on the playground?"

"How will I know if she's being treated unkindly by a friend?"

"How will I know if she's safe when I'm not with her?"

So, yeah - raising a daughter is hard. It's not easy. But did you know - there is a way to make it easier?

There is a way to feel that 'she's got this' feeling when she steps out into the world on her own.

Start here:

10 Confidence Habits Every Girl Needs by Age 9

  1. Even when the rest of the world gets her down, she needs to know without a doubt that she always has a safe place to land.
  2. Hear Her Roar! When she runs into people that aren’t treating her kindly, she needs to be able to say or do something to stand up for herself.
  3. Being self-assured and confident is possible no matter where you are –whether hanging with friends, at school, or with adults.
  4. Her power comes from her strengths – they are what set her apart from everyone else and when she uses them, it’s what makes this world a better place.
  5. Believe! Rather than going for things within reach, believing in herself will propel her to strive for something MORE.
  6. Her thoughts lead to action so THINK POSITIVE. Doing so will get her to where she wants to go.
  7. Asking for help is ok. Her biggest supporters are her go-to source for reliable back-up and for figuring out the tough stuff.
  8. Her heart, the compass to her voice is the guide when making every decision and when taking action.
  9. Girl posse. Whether one, two, three or more, every girl needs good friends to count on for making her days extra special.
  10. If she bumps into a challenging time, remember she is a Gutsy Girl
